You might be asking yourself, "How did a charming guy from Mississippi end up engaged to a quiet girl from California?" Well, it all started with the internet!
We first met years ago through one of our favorite hobbies, playing video games. In early 2020, Cameron made his first trip to California to meet Katelyn face-to-face. That trip was filled with long conversations, movie marathons, cooking together, and a memorable visit to the Monterey Bay Aquarium. But all too soon Cameron had to fly back home.
The next few years flew by with each of us making trips to see the other; we visited Bay St. Louis, Oxford, Memphis, Bardstown, LA, Chicago and many more places together. We also stayed connected through gaming and many late-night, long-distance, movie and TV-watching sessions. In April 2022, Cameron packed his life into a U-Haul trailer, and we set off on a grand adventure! Seven days, seven states, 2,710 miles, one zoo, two national parks, and hundreds of photos later, we arrived at our new home together in California!
Together in California we have had the opportunity to attend several concerts, visit state and national parks, take road trips, and enjoy several different sporting events... When we aren't working of course!
Fast forward to July 19th, 2024, when Cameron decided it was time to pop the question. We were on the last port day of an Alaskan cruise, docking in Victoria, British Columbia. Cameron had done his research and found a large sundial near the port, thinking it would be the perfect spot at sunset. With the ring hidden away and Katelyn clueless to Cameron's big plans, we set off for our adventure. But, as luck would have it, the sunset was blocked by the ship, and the moment just didn’t feel right, so Cameron had to improvise.
We strolled through downtown Victoria, enjoyed some poutine and beers, and started heading back to the ship. On our way, we came across a beautiful garden with roses and hedge sculptures in the courtyard of a historic hotel and tea room. Cameron pulled Katelyn into the rose garden, and surprise! He proposed. We left that garden engaged and buzzing with excitement.
We are over the moon to share our upcoming wedding with everyone. Though having our families so far apart can be tricky, we are incredibly grateful to those who can join us and totally understand those who can't. We’re also planning a Wedding Shower in Mississippi, to ensure we can celebrate with everyone!
